Stokes Legal, LLC is proud to announce that Joshua P. Stokes received the highest peer-reviewed, professional rating available from Martindale-Hubbell. Mr. Stokes was recognized as AV Preeminent rated attorneys in the second half of 2013.
According to Martindale-Hubbell, an AV® Preeminent certification mark is "a testament to the fact that a lawyer's peers rank him or her at the highest level of professional excellence." Martindale-Hubbell's peer review rating process reviews attorneys for General Ethical Standards and five (5) specific areas related to overall Legal Ability. The reviewers are anonymous members of the Bar and Judiciary (lawyers and judges) across multiple jurisdictions and geographic locations and are listed on martindale.com. The reviewers are also from similar practice areas and/or industry as the lawyer being rated, who know or have worked with the lawyer under review and are able to rate them on their professional ethical standards and legal ability.
Joshua P. Stokes has been named Super Lawyers Rising Stars from 2013-2019. These are a distinction reserved for young attorneys who "have attained a high-degree of peer recognition and professional achievement." Following a rigorous nomination and selection process, Josh was identified as a young lawyer who upholds the values of the South Carolina legal community and have demonstrated efficacy in their professional pursuits. Attorneys cannot nominate themselves for the recognition, nor can they pay to be listed. This speaks to the positive peer recognition and professional accomplishments Josh attained in his successful tenures as South Carolina lawyers.
Super Lawyers, a publication of Thomson Reuters, is an independent and impartial, online and print rating service of outstanding lawyers from across the United States. The recognized lawyers are published on SuperLawyers.com and in the Super Lawyers Magazine for a particular state at the end of April each year. Super Lawyers Magazine is published in all 50 states, Washington D.C., and London, England. Super Lawyers began ranking South Carolina Super Lawyers in 2008.
According to Super Lawyers, each year the published list of South Carolina Super Lawyers cannot exceed five percent (5%) of the total number of lawyers in the state. While originally started in 1998, Super Lawyers began ranking Rising Stars in South Carolina in 2012 to recognize up-and-coming lawyers in the state. Lawyers selected as Rising Stars endure the same rigorous selection process as the Super Lawyers process but must also be forty (40) years old or younger or practicing for ten (10) years or less. However, no more than two and a half percent (2.5%) of the total lawyers in the state can be selected as Rising Stars. Additional information and details regarding the patented Super Lawyers and Rising Stars nominations, research, independent and peer evaluations, selection, and publishing processes are located on SuperLawyers.com.
